posted 06/16/2009 Tonka Ball 2009
Come Join us for a Fun Weekend of Baseball - Time is Running out to Sign up
We talked with South Tonka today and they currently have enough players signed up for three 9AA teams, at least one 10AAA and one 11/12 team with more registrations still coming in, so check your calendars and get your registration in today - Tuesday June 30th!!!
Tonka Ball 2009 is scheduled for the weekend of July 17 - 19, 2009 at the Mound-Westonka fields, hosted by Upper Tonka Little League. Tonka Ball is open to any player, age 9 - 12 who was not selected for an all-star or tournament team. Teams will be formed for 9's, 10's and 11/12's and will play against teams from South Tonka Little League and Upper Tonka Little League.
Mound is having its Spirit of the Lakes festival that weekend so there are activities your families can participate in (including fireworks on Sat. night) while they are in the area. The website for the complete list of activities is www.spiritofthelakes.com.
Sign up under Registration on the Home page. WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER COACHES TOO, SO PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THAT AS WELL. Deadline for Signing up is Tuesday, June 30th.
Last year 17 teams participated in this event and comments were very positive, games played at a venue other than Bennett. Each team will play at least 3 games. There are no trophies awarded and no elimination - the goal is to have fun and to play some good games of ball - but everyting else wil be played according to Little League rules with youth umpires from Upper Tonka, supplemented by STLL and ETLL as needed.
Teams will be formed around the end of in-house playoffs and coaches will receive equipment to enable them to being practic soon after (practice times/schedules will be distributed when we know how many teams there will be).
There will be no cost to participate. Players will either use their regular season uniforms or receive playing shirts (more info to come).
If you have any questions, please contact your respective League Director:
9s: Rob Hoerauf
